t4/ ONE NIGHT AT THE GOLDEN BAR/ ALBERTO CORTÉS

"If something pushes me to put something like this on stage, it is the eternal dilemma we are going through regarding the tensions with The Romantic, an unresolved conflict that shows that we think of formulas and strategies from queer theory to move away from masculine toxicities and heteropatriarchal structures that overwhelm us, but at the same time we can fall sick with desire and romanticize a man who plows the earth, Man in capital letters. That crack, that clumsiness, is this play."

ONE NIGHT AT THE GOLDEN BAR/ ALBERTO CORTÉS

ONE NIGHT AT THE GOLDEN BAR is a corny, musical declaration of love from a queer perspective; the search for a state of vulnerability that reveals the power of affection and the beauty that is hidden in fragility. From the imaginary of the heavenly figure of the angel, a rain of questions is crossed: what masculinity governs us, what frailties and cracks are not being mentioned, what identities are in a vulnerable and monstrous place at the same time, how to sing of outdated love, of infinite, politically incorrect, rebellious, sacrificial love. How are we going to protect these bodies and identities when they publicly shout how they feel when they love; Now may be the time to fight back. There is a strength in everything that is extremely fragile, as Rilke said “every angel is terrible” and as Ana Torroja said in La fuerza del destino: “one night at the gold bar I decided to attack.” This is the gold bar attack, a boarding.
