At sunset, after a couple of lovers argue strongly on Gulpiyuri beach, a romantic and submissive ghost called Analphabet appears over the sea to narrate his story and sing songs to the couple.

Analphabet is the invention of a myth: that of a romantic spirit that manifests itself to couples in natural environments and that lives trapped in the wound of the flesh; and whose appearance reveals the ravine that we call a "couple of lovers" and the abuse to which we submit within that loving structure. Its personal story opens the box of intragender violence and exposes the need to also take extreme care in queer relationships crossed by patriarchal inheritance. As a tormented spirit it drinks from the poetry of German romanticism and its landscapes (Goethe, Hölderlin and Novalis have accompanied this writing), but it also uses the Andalusian idiosyncrasy and the mortal wound of a love in Euskadi. The ghost, although it comes dying and wounded on a horse, brings with it a hope: what poetry can do for the wound.

 

 

AUTHOR´S WORDS

 

The spirit of Analphabet is born out of necessity, rather out of desire, to imagine a ghost that comes to put order or heal the battered bodies of the “couple of lovers.” The couple of lovers functions here as a complex axis, where the tensions between “Daffodils” end up generating abuse and heartbreak. And when this happens and we are inside, and when we see the ground of the fall very close to our face but we decide to go downwards, from those few centimeters that separate us from the ground I wished for something: let's build a myth that will come to help. Let it be called Analphabet, let it appear at the critical moment, let it emerge from nature, from the landscapes that are being ignored by our disputes: I publicly apologize to each natural site that I did not attend because I was too busy with my tears. This work is that forgiveness of the landscape and my own body, and Analphabet is nothing more than one's body putting itself out there and saying: now, now. This story that comes to relieve, is crossed by emotional abuse and intragender violence: two men carrying the patriarchal inheritance that in many cases being queer or queer does not erase.
