La consagración de nadie is about the search of Micaela, an opera singer and actress who was never able to enter the opera scene in Buenos Aires. In a documentary style, she decides to make her own personal bio-dramatic project, to tell her story, her path in art, to occupy spaces for herself and receive the applause she could not find in the opera universe.

We take the concept of “consecration” to investigate Mica’s history and personal experience. What, who, when and why one is legitimized as an artist. What does an applause, a full room, failure, and an empty room imply.

 

“I’m Micaela, I’m 41 years old and I’man opera singer. I like Verdi, Puccini and Mozart. Idon’t like Britten and Gluck. Iauditioned two times for the Teatro Colón and three times for Juventus Lyrica. Inever got anything. Ihad six vocal technique teachers, three told me Iwas a mezzo and three, a soprano. Three told me to leave Argentina if Iwanted to sing. I like to sing and Idon’t want to die without being applauded for it”

 

 

Vision and reflection on the gender perspective in the work

The project proposes a vision and reflection on the gender perspective. Itis not only the place of the artist, but also the path of the woman in a universe commanded by men.

One of the topics of the work is the hierarchy ina very elitist universe,where the figure of the “master” exists as the person capable of showing the way to success.

Inthe play, a situation of harassment by a teacher towards Micaela is evidenced. Using his place of power to make incorrect and improper insinuations.

Making this visible allows us to begin to recognize when acts of manipulation and harassment occur in a dissimilar power relationship.

The work invites us to rethink the ways of bonding, and to focus on how the desire to perform an activity, in this case artistic, hides a perverse system.

We show how the circuit of belonging to the opera talks about how a woman should dress, make up and be a woman to enter certain established canons.

This work is a vindication and a cry of encouragement to all those women who have wanted and want to achieve a dream. It is our impulse to encourage them, as in this

case, Micaela who invites us to her own concert designed by her,in a gymnastics en-semble, showing that talent is more than just a dress and heels.
